The work plan aims at developing a new economically viable and simple bio-control protocol for application in phytopathology. It focuses on the diseases caused by filamentous fungi, in particular Moniliophtora perniciosa in cocoa plant and fruit, and Colletotrichum acutatum complex or C. gloeosporioides in olive tree and fruit. The protocol will be based on the utilization of antagonistic yeast strains that must be easily and cheaply cultivated. The protocol/s developed during this thesis will be considered for patenting and/or licencing.
